Miss Hoover Liz Cochran wins Miss Alabama title
Miss Hoover Liz Cochran won the Miss Alabama competition Saturday night, replacing the current Miss Alabama, Amanda Tapley. Cochran will go on to compete for the Miss America crown and will receive a $10,000 cash scholarship.
"Oh, my goodness. I can't believe it," said Cochran, who has competed three years. "The dream I've had since I was 12 years old has finally come true." Cochran, who competed as Miss Hoover and won the swimsuit preliminary Friday evening, is a 20-year-old dance and pre-med major at Birmingham-Southern College.
