Environmental Stewardship
Over the past decade, there has been increasing attention to such concepts as product stewardship, supply chain management, life cycle assessment, pollution prevention, environmental management systems, and sustainability; all of which are associated with the idea of environmental stewardship. EPA's Performance Track provides recognition, regulatory flexibility, and other incentives that promote high levels of environmental performance, and provides a learning network where the best practices can be shared with stakeholders in the industry as well as government agencies. Through this valuable collaborative effort between government and industry Performance Track Members commit to environmental stewardship that includes;
- Corporate Responsibility
- Best-In-Class Performance
- Corporate Leadership
- Transparency and Social Accountability
- New Technology and Innovative Advancements
EPA's initial proposal to develop Performance Track was published in its July 1999 report, "Aiming for Excellence". The Agency consulted extensively with stakeholders and state environmental agencies to develop and refine the proposed program. The program was launched officially on June 26, 2000. EPA accepted 228 facilities from among all industries in the US as Charter Members of its elite Environmental Performance Track Program. These Charter Members were considered EPA's environmental stars. In recognition of this achievement the EPA held a welcoming ceremony in Washington, DC on December 13, 2000.
Unlike any competitor in our markets Aaron Oil Company is the only Used Oil and Petroleum Recycler that enjoys Charter Membership status in EPA's Performance Track Program.
The EPA recognized Aaron Oil Company because of four key areas of commitment;
- Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive Environmental Management System
- Going beyond legal requirements as evidence of our commitment to continuous environmental improvement
- Informing and seeking input from its local community about the facility's environmental performance
- Maintaining a record of sustained compliance with environmental requirements
