The San Gabriel Valley is a geographic area of approximately 374 square miles that serves as the eastern gateway to Los Angeles and Southern California.  The San Gabriel Valley is home to more than 2 million California residents living in 31 incorporated cities and many unincorporated communities.

The San Gabriel Valley, founded in 1704, is the birthplace of Southern California.  It is our goal at the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments to honor the past while we build for a better tomorrow.  I welcome you and encourage you to explore this website to learn about the San Gabriel Valley and its Council of Governments.

Sincerely,

Angel Carrillo
President

San Gabriel Valley in Times Square!

Thanks to a grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), the SGVCOG made it easier for consumers and retailers to recycle household batteries. The efforts were captured on the Reuters Sign in Times Square with a photo of Monrovia Councilwoman Becky Schevlin at a local take-back business. Would you like to find your local take-back business? Visit our Battery Recycling page.

Battery and Lamp Recycling

It is against the law to throw household batteries and fluorescent lamps in the trash or recycling bin. To properly dispose of these hazardous items, look for lamp and battery take-back centers at local businesses throughout San Gabriel Valley.
