Lamp Recycling Pilot Program
Through a grant from CalRecycle, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) and California Product Stewardship Council have partnered with Southern California Edison to provide residents a convenient lamp recycling opportunity. This program aims to encourage proper end-of-life management of products containing household hazardous waste including fluorescent lamps and tubes, which contain mercury. California has banned trash disposal of fluorescent lamps and tubes because they easily break in the trash and release mercury, which is a health hazard.
